Ice Fishing Begins – From the Coach’s Side
The lake is frozen.
The wind is cold.
And today, I’m not just fishing — I’m teaching.
Standing on the ice, surrounded by adults in thick winter jackets,
I’m the youngest one here.
But when it comes to ice fishing, I’m the one guiding the group.
I show them how to set up the gear,
how to drill the hole,
how to read the ice,
and how to wait — quietly, patiently.
Ice fishing is different from summer fishing.
There’s no rushing.
Just focus, calm hands, and trust in experience.
Being a coach at thirteen feels strange — but also right.
Because fishing isn’t about age.
It’s about respect for nature.
13 and Born to Fish.
